Singapore Employment Pass salary thresholds to rise in 2027

From 1 January 2027, the baseline EP salary will rise to S$6,000 for most sectors and S$6,600 for financial services for new applications.

What is changing?

Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower announced in March 2026 that the baseline Employment Pass (EP) qualifying salary would rise from S$5,600 to S$6,000 in most sectors, and from S$6,200 to S$6,600 in financial services.

New applications versus renewals

The change is scheduled to apply to new EP applications from 1 January 2027 and renewals from 1 January 2028. Age-adjusted salary thresholds may be higher, and applicants must also meet other relevant criteria, including COMPASS where applicable.

Implications for families

An EP is not the same as permanent residency. Work-pass eligibility and accompanying family arrangements depend on individual circumstances; verify current rules with MOM and ICA before making decisions.
